Senator Ajimobi, who died aged 70, was a two-term governor of Oyo State – the first person to occupy the seat twice and in succession.

It was rumoured last week that he had passed on, but his Special Adviser on Communication and Strategy, Bolaji Tunji, dismissed the reports in a statement obtained by Channels Television.

The news of the former governor’s death on Thursday was confirmed by aides and some family members, as well as elder statesmen and political bigwigs in the country.
